I have a slight obsession with TV shows. Not just TV shows but books and movies as well. Today I want to talk to you about my latest obsession- House of Cards.
House of Cards is a political series developed exclusively for Netflix. Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright and Kate Mara are the lead actors. I know what you’re thinking… political dramas are boring. Trust me, this show is far from boring. And the best thing is that’s as of now, there’s only one season and it just has 13 episodes.
It takes place in Washington DC and revolves around Democrat Congressman Frank Underwood, played by Spacey. The story begins when a new president takes office and Frank is denied the promised Secretary of State position and he decides to take revenge on everyone involved- even the new president himself. His wife Claire, played by Wright, is just as ruthless and calculating as Frank and works for a NGO and uses his husband’s connections to her benefit. Together they make one of DC’s most dangerous couples, but their image of the perfect, non-corrupt couple is always one step away from falling apart. To get ahead and have his revenge, Frank gets the help of upcoming journalist Zoe Barnes, played by Mara, who works at The Washington Herald. They both feed each other information and work as a team. They’re characters you will both love and hate at the same time. It’s addictive.
Even if this show is a remake from the original BBC series, it has new elements and plot twists and you won’t regret watching it. It’s streamed only on Netflix.
The best thing? Season two premieres THIS Friday the 14th. Hurry up and watch. I promise you won’t regret it. Here’s the trailer of season 1. Enjoy!
